A CozyMaternity Session at Gallery 48 Blanc
There is something so special about taking a moment to slow down, pause, and take a minute to soak in quiet, still moments with you and baby before your whole world changes.
This studio session at Gallery 48 Blanc in Rochester was exactly that. This was the third pregnancy for this sweet mom and she wanted a second to enjoy the stillness of the third just as if it was her first.
What a Studio Maternity Session is like
This session took place at Gallery 48 Blanc studio in Rochester, NY, a beautiful natural light studio, all white walls, making for endless possibilities. For this session we took a relaxed and quiet approach which fit very well with the space. The all white studio allowed for mom and baby to be front and center with no distractions.
Studio maternity sessions are a great option, especially here in Rochester where the weather can be unpredictable. There’s no rushing, no worrying about being cold, and no distractions. The calm environment is what made this session feel so soft and intentional.
What to Expect During Your Maternity Session
As a maternity photographer in Rochester, NY, my approach is centered around connection and simplicity. I’m not here to create something overly posed or forced. Instead, I want your session to feel like a moment to pause. Whether that’s just you, taking it all in, or your whole family joining to be present with your baby before they arrive.
One of the biggest concerns I hear as a Rochester, NY maternity photographer is, “I don’t know how to pose.”
You don’t need to.
These sessions are not about stiff posing or trying to perform for the camera. I guide you with simple, natural movement like placing your hands on your belly, walking, sitting, all while keeping the focus on the belly and just being present.
What to Wear for Maternity Photos
A question almost every expecting mom asks is, “What should I wear?”
The best answer is to keep it simple. Soft, neutral tones, flowy fabrics, and pieces that allow you to move comfortably, photograph beautifully in a studio setting or outdoors. You don’t need anything overly styled. The goal is to feel like yourself.
This beautiful mom had her husband's T-shirt because that is what was the most comfortable being in the third trimester.
When to Book Your Maternity Session
Typically, most sessions take place anywhere from 28-34 weeks. I personally like to schedule your session around 32-36 weeks. This is typically when your belly is showing the most, but you’re still comfortable enough to move and enjoy the experience.
Every pregnancy is different, so we can always adjust based on what feels best for you.
